These mineral raw materials are melted in a high-temperature gas-heated furnace at temperatures reaching 1450°C to 1500°C. The molten basalt is then extruded through platinum-rhodium alloy bushing plates containing hundreds of micro-nozzles, forming continuous filaments ranging from 9 to 22 micrometers in diameter.
To achieve maximum fire safety and mechanical strength in our needled felts, we implement a custom mechanical needle-punching line. The continuous filaments are laid into uniform webs and then mechanically interlocked using thousands of barbed needles reciprocating at high speeds.
