Unlike E-Glass, which contains boron and synthetic silicates prone to acid and alkali hydrolysis, basalt is derived from 100% pure volcanic igneous rock. The high concentration of ferric oxide (Fe₂O₃ + FeO) and titanium dioxide inside basalt creates an extremely stable mineral structure. This natural composition provides 10 times better resistance to alkaline environments (like cement hydration products) and ensures complete immunity to rust, salt, and acidic rainfall, making it the perfect reinforcing element for Central European structures.
We manufacture a comprehensive array of continuous basalt fiber rovings with linear densities ranging from 300 Tex to 4800 Tex. Our typical filament diameters vary between 9 micrometers and 22 micrometers. Smaller Tex values (e.g., 300 to 1200 Tex) are typically deployed in custom weaving, braiding, and electronics isolation. Larger Tex values (e.g., 2400 to 4800 Tex) are optimized for heavy-load pultrusion structural rebars, composite profiles, and SMC automotive parts.
The European Green Deal requires automotive OEMs to dramatically lower lifecycle carbon footprints and increase vehicle recyclability. Standard carbon fiber composites are incredibly expensive and difficult to recycle. Basalt fiber offers a mechanical strength profile very close to carbon fiber at a fraction of the cost, is completely non-toxic, and has a thermal tolerance up to 700°C. In the event of vehicle reclamation, basalt composites can be safely ground down and re-melted without emitting hazardous synthetic vapors, making it the perfect green structural material for Slovakia's Tier-1 auto parts suppliers.
