While the initial purchase price of BFRP may be higher than black steel, it is significantly cheaper than stainless steel or epoxy-coated rebar. When calculating the Life Cycle Cost (LCC), basalt rebar is much more economical as it eliminates maintenance and repair costs over a 100-year span.
Q2: Can Basalt Rebar be bent on-site?
BFRP rebar cannot be bent after the resin has cured. All bends (stirrups, corners) must be specified during the design phase and manufactured at our factory. We provide custom-shaped rebar to match your blueprints exactly.
Q3: Is Basalt Rebar fire-resistant?
Basalt fiber itself is naturally fire-resistant with a melting point over 1450°C. However, the resin matrix in the rebar has a lower Tg (Glass Transition Temperature). For fire-rated structures, we recommend specific concrete cover thicknesses to maintain structural integrity during thermal events.
Q4: What is the thermal expansion coefficient of BFRP?
