The liquid melt is then precisely drawn through high-precision, platinum-rhodium alloy bushing plates containing thousands of micro-nozzles. The resulting ultra-thin monofilaments (ranging from 9 to 22 microns in diameter) are rapidly cooled and immediately treated with specialized chemical sizing agents (silane coupling systems) that optimize compatibility with specific matrix resins (epoxy, vinyl ester, polyurethane, or phenolic).
